I wasn't able to commencement this the night before, so I cooked information technology for half dozen hours on loftier and it came out perfect! I used beef goop instead of the water, added a few more carrots and potatoes than the recipe called for, and I only added 1/2 an onion (and a small one at that), as I thought it might be a little likewise "oniony" with a whole onion AND the onion soup mix also. I also added some chopped parsley and a picayune chip of black pepper. The gravy was kind of thin, so an hour before information technology was washed I added 2 tablespoons of cornstarch mixed with a little bit of the gravy, stirred information technology back into the pot and let information technology cook (on loftier) the final hour with the lid off. This thickened it up just beautifully! I served it with crusty rolls for sopping up all the gravy. I thought this was actually good! When my hubby took his starting time seize with teeth of the stew all he said was "Mmmmmmmmmm!", so I guess information technology was a winner with him too! :)

This is i of the all-time stews my family and I have ever eaten! I fabricated a few changes to this recipe - I used two one/four lbs. of stew meat, and 5 carrots, 4 ruby-red potatoes (med. size, west/ skin on), and four stalks of celery. I also fabricated a roux of 5 tbsp. flour/5tbsp. butter to thicken the stew, and added a variety of spices for flavoring.

There is no need to begin cooking this recipe the night before. I have started this recipe in the morning & it has turned out just as good. But make certain you have information technology in the crock pot early on enough then it will cook for a minimum of 9 hrs. Pat McKay

Definately let this cook over dark. I used sirlion tips instead of stew meat. I left out the mushrooms and celery since my famliy does not like them. I also thinkened it up past taking about a one/two cup of the stock out an hour before eating. I let it absurd, added two tablespoons cornstarch to that and mixed well and then added back to the stew. Information technology was delicous!

Great stew!! I began cooking in the forenoon and cooked five hours on high and iv hours on low. It was set and succulent! No need to start the night before. The only modify I fabricated was using beef goop instead of water for extra flavour! Highly recommend. There is barely whatever left over!
11/25/2006
Very skillful. I'k not much of a meat eater, but my husband is, and then I cut the meat downwardly to i.5lbs and increased the vegetables to compensate. Like a lot of other reviewers, I added fresh garlic and black pepper, used beef stock (low sodium) in place of water, and added some cornstarch in the terminal 30 minutes of cooking. I cooked it on high for iv hours and so low for another vi hours. The veggies were cooked perfectly and my husband said that the beef was juicy and tender. I'd definitely use this recipe again!
05/03/2007
Loved information technology! Floured and browned the meat prior to cooking. Added parsnip and turnip for additional flavor. The 2nd time I made it I added about a loving cup of red wine -- more than flavor. Absolutely delish and the company loved it.
09/13/2006
So adept and then easy. I used vegetable broth in place of the water, added extra carrots, a couple of cloves of crushed garlic, and a splash of red vino. I thickened the gravy with flour. I cooked this all day, nearly v hours on high and the last v hours on low.

I want to thank everyone who tried this recipe of mine.. I've gotten some cracking indeas from some of your suggestions.. like using beef broth and bay leaves.. I retrieve this is a good basic recipe that you can modify to your own tastes. You tin probably first this in the morning, but starting it the nighttime earlier made life easier for me in the morning, trying to become off to work... peculiarly on a common cold wintertime day... this is our all time favorite condolement meal. Thank you everyone!
02/eleven/2008
This stew is bully on a common cold winter day! I didn't use fresh mushroom considering my family does not similar them. I as well dredged the meat in flour and browned in olive oil earlier cooking in the crockpot. I likewise added a splash of steak sauce.

This is an crawly base recipe for beef stew. I wouldn't propose making it with just the ingredients listed in this recipe alone; cause information technology really didn't have that old fashioned grandma beefiness stew taste. Instead of using ane can of Golden Onion Soup, I used about 1 3/4 cans (of the small cans). Instead of using water I used beefiness broth fabricated from beef bullion cubes. Instead of using regular Onion Soup Mix I used the Gilded Onion soup mix. I likewise added some worcestershire sauce (non sure of the amount simply poured some in), adobo (not sure of corporeality merely sprinkled some in). I also added a package of McCormicks Beefiness Stew seasoning, which I think that is what the stew need to give information technology the flavor I was looking for. I too added more than pepper. I didn't cook the stew overnight, I cooked it on high for nigh half-dozen hours and the stew came out fantastic. Like others I added some corn starch at the terminate to thicken upward the sauce alittle fleck as well. Both my hubby and I loved it. I served with some biscuits on the side. OMG to die for... We are having left overs tonight. Definitely volition arrive over again, and again.
03/10/2008
I made this with some spices that came from a "beefiness stew packet" and left out the soup, and then mine came out more like a soup than a stew, but it was delicious none the less. I may try this one over again one-time with a closer follow to the recipe.
01/25/2011
This was super good! Perfect for this common cold weather. It was fifty-fifty better the next day! It was a striking at our business firm!
11/23/2008
Took into account all the reviews and my rating is based on the following changes: Used 1/ii an onion instead of a whole onion, added more than carrots and celery. Added 1/2 loving cup of scarlet wine. I browned the flour meat get-go, then poured the onion soup/broth/mushroom soup mixture over information technology. Cooked WITHOUT vegetables for 3 hours on low, then added vegetables in for the last v hours. The carrots came out simply right - putting all the veggies in in the get-go will cause them to be soggy and overcooked. Just before I put the veggies in, I tasted the gravy and it tasted bland. Then I added a packet of boring cooker beef stew seasoning - this is what added the boot the stew was missing. Was very skeptical at outset but the stew came out beautifully. I also boiled the potatoes separately and threw them in cooked at the end, so they wouldn't absorb too much of the vino/spice flavoring.
01/25/2004
This was perhaps the best crockpot recipe I've tried. However, I used i-1/three# buffalo stew meat instead of 3# beef stew and it was splendid! The meat has less fat and less cholesterol. I found that it was washed in about 18 hours so nosotros ate early today. I originally liked the idea of having one melt all day so I wouldn't have to get upwards so early to become it started. I also used beef broth in identify of the water. Will definitely brand information technology again.
04/05/2010
This was and so yum! I made a few alterations based on what others said. I used 3 cups of water, 1 can of beef broth, a pckge of Mccormick seasoning (instead of onion mix) and 1 can reg mush soup since I didn't have golden. I likewise added a couple dashes of worceshire sauce. The veggies I added were ruby-red potatos, peas, carrots, onion and celery. I made this the reg mode last fourth dimension and it was a picayune bland. Much better with the alterations!
06/22/2011
This was a peachy recipe to outset out with. I would take given it 5 stars but I did some tweeking and information technology needed to be thickened upwards.
12/13/2011
pretty good!! Used 1 tin of beef goop instead of the water. I don't know why yous demand to cook this overnight, I put information technology on at 9am, added the carrots & potatoes about noon, added the onions, celery & garlic nearly ii hours later. We were eating about 6pm. Served with some nice sour dough bread!
11/17/2011
YUMMY! I made this twice in 1 calendar week it was and then good. Both times, it was ready past about 14 hours. The second fourth dimension, I decided to make it a little spicy and put in about 1 Tablespoon sriracha, and information technology added a smashing kick! Like others, I also added parsnips and used beef burgoo cubes. Volition definitely make once more!
09/01/2010
succulent! i have tried making stew at to the lowest degree 3 or 4 different times, and each time i felt like it was missing something...well, i call back this is the recipe for me :) i added some zucchini (because my garden is inundation with it) and garlic (because, everything should take garlic) :) and i used vegetable broth instead of h2o. Because of all the vegetables, the meat sat rather high up from the juice (which information technology says to add together till information technology hits the bottom of the meat....so i added extra vegetable goop (probably a little too much), so when it was done cooking, i took the lid off for an hour to let it cook down some and added a little flour to thicken it too. Yummy!
12/07/2012
Pretty good! would give it iv.v stars if I could. I, as well, was unable to get-go this the nighttime earlier and honestly glad I didn't. Even on low I would recollect the veggies would be consummate mush after all that time. I started mine on high at 10 am, turned it downward to low subsequently four hours and the meat was spoon tender by 7pm. With 1 hour to go I added ii Tbs of corn starch to the stew and let it cook the concluding hour with the hat off and information technology thickened up PERFECTLY. I used vegetable broth instead of water and added about two/3 cup of red vino (cab merlot alloy) and two cloves of garlic to the mix. I was too a lilliputian heavy handed with the other veggies equally I had stuff to use up. All in all this is a tasty recipe I will definitely make over again although I retrieve I may look to put the veggies in at the half way point next time and so they are non sooooooo soft.
05/25/2011
I cooked this recipe exactly as the directions say and it was pretty atrocious. It was really bland, but salty. I started to cook on low the night earlier as instructed and the vegetables were mush and the meat was still tough. Definitely volition not be making this again.
01/23/2007
I have a three qt boring cooker and this filled it upwards. Used low sodium beef broth instead of water. No mushrooms 'cuz others in family don't like them but I did add one parsnip. Ya gotsta have a parsnip in beefiness stew...mandatory. Cooked on low 10 hrs during the day which is the same as overnight...duh! Added about 1 cup of instant potatoes during final 1.5 hours to thicken. Also added half cup frozen peas at same fourth dimension. Beef was overnice and tender and veggies non overcooked. Servings left over were put in freezer. This will exist a standard at our house. Can't requite it 5. Seldom requite anything 5.
01/07/2012
SO tasty over rice! We like to add together 3/4 cup of heavy cream after information technology'southward washed and stir information technology in, it makes information technology creamier!
09/15/2013
This was a bang-up starter for stew. It needed more flavor though. I had to thicken at the end. About an 45 minutes before serving I melted 4 TBLS of butter and slowly added 1/4 cup of flour. One time that was all mixed I slowly added juice from the stew until it was nice and creamy. I slowly added back to the stew. It gave it a bully consistency, just like Mom used to make. Thanks for sharing.
02/fourteen/2013
I browned the meat and used beefiness broth instead of water. Cooked this all day and it came out great. I got wonderful reviews from everyone that tried it.
02/fourteen/2013
I browned the meat and used beef broth instead of h2o. Cooked this all day and it came out great. I got wonderful reviews from everyone that tried it.
xi/19/2008
Please practice not make this receipe every bit it is I made information technology the way it was shown and the beef was so done information technology broke all autonomously in the crock pot and tasted like it was a Dinty Moore stew awful flavor celery was to stong and I tossed it all out. Very sorry I mind to so many reviews that it was so proficient. Never Once again Lm
12/25/2006
This stew was superb! And then like shooting fish in a barrel and the flavors came together but right to brand ane of the best stew recipes I take ever made. I added beef broth in place of the h2o to add together boosted season. I did not start cooking until the forenoon of, but the meat was still tender. Side by side fourth dimension I will cook overnight as directed considering the meat would accept probably been even more tender. I will definitely brand this again and again.
05/04/2009
Information technology was fine, but zilch special. Everyone ate a bowl, but the leftovers are nonetheless in my fridge.
11/09/2009
This was succulent and the meat oooo so tender. I took others communication and used beef broth instead of h2o and too added a can of corn. Will definately make this once more!
10/ten/2002
So easy! I added 3 cloves of garlic, and next time will add a picayune something else for more flavor, but the recipe couldn't be easier. I couldn't fit the third lb. of meat in cooker though. Wonderful odor to come up home to on a chilly day.
12/02/2007
This was delicious. I floured & browned the meat until golden brown kickoff. The only thing different I did was apply Lipton Savory Herb & garlic soup with 2 cups beefiness goop. I didn't accept mushroom soup, but it however came out fine. I volition be making this over again.
04/28/2012
I followed a trivial what other'southward had suggested. I took out mushrooms, and mushroom soup. Added about 7 - x table spoons of flour (enough to make it more of a stew and less of a soup) replaced the water with beef broth. And, added a couple of garlic cloves for flavour. Overall it tasted amazing. Also, didn't cook information technology over nighttime, but for 12 hours. Hope I helped!
06/24/2014
My married man said information technology was the best I have e'er prepared. The merely alter was tenderized stew meat to supersede the regular chunks.
04/30/2012
I had my doubts about cooking overnight, and was right, it was overcooked. It probably would have been fine if started in the morning time.
02/16/2012
First stew I've made & turned out swell! I didn't cook over night after reading other reviews & the veges turned out perfect. I also marinated the meat jn some of the tin can of beef goop & steak rub over night in amorphous. I used the rest of beefiness broth in crock instead of water. I used 2lbs meat instead of 3, was plenty. I made Italian bread too. Everyone loved information technology! Will definately brand again.
12/05/2010
GREAT STEW!!!!!! My husband (who won't come near anything cooked in a crock pot) LOVED It!!!! I thought we would have left-overs but we didn't...it was THAT Practiced!! The only thing I added was garlic and I did chocolate-brown the meat first and since I didn't desire information technology cooking overnight, I cooked information technology on low for 8hrs. Wonderful stew! Volition cook a lot in the cold December nights!
04/15/2007
Succulent season! Served this to my hubby and some friends, and they all raved nearly it. Simply be sure to add plenty of beefiness goop/water (whichever you decide to apply). Also, I cooked the meat in the mushroom soup, onion soup and beef broth for 24 hours but didn't add the vegetables until the last 4 hours per some other reviewer's suggestions, and that worked out perfectly.
10/23/2010
Fantastic - we couldn't end eating it. Everything blended together cute
02/27/2010
This was an easy stew to put together. I didn't do it overnight, though. I allow it cook on Low for about 9 hours. My simply mistake was to add together too much water. It was nonetheless very good, but the stop was more like a soup. Will do this once again.
11/08/2011
Very good. I added some H1 sauce to zest it up a little
10/02/2012
Novice cooker, used exact ingredients and cooked for ix hours on depression. Came out great, would definitely make again!
05/thirteen/2010
I made this minus the mushrooms and used beef broth instead of water and only cooked for four hours. It was fantastic best recipe Ive found nevertheless
08/07/2013
Yum! I began it about 10:xxx pm last dark and we ate at 5:30 today. Delish! I added some Worcestershire sauce and as well added vegetable broth instead of the water. The just trouble was, I couldn't sleep much since the wonderful aroma kept me up! lol
09/06/2012
Oh my goodness, this is The Best and is SO like shooting fish in a barrel. I used just one lb. of meat and we plant it was Just the right corporeality of meat for the ii of united states. I also added a fiddling more than veggies so information technology called for & left the mushrooms out.I cooked for 2Hr's on high & low for less then an hr. It was tender & YUMMY.
09/xviii/2013
This turned out nifty! Didn't modify likewise much, used 2 packets of dry onion soup mix instead of ane, used one can of beef goop instead of water, and used infant bella mushrooms (personal preference). Besides only used 2 pounds of meat instead of 3 (three pounds just seemed like alot to me!). And in that location was no need to thicken information technology, turned out perfect! Will brand over again and again!
09/18/2007
We loved this recipe. I only added half the meat and increased the potatoes and carrots. As well used foam of celery instead of mushroom, beef broth instead of water, and added fresh garlic. I also thickened it a bit with flour. I started it at seven:00 AM and nosotros ate at viii PM. Meat was perfect. Wonderful comfort nutrient. I can't wait for lunch as I brought leftovers!
01/xx/2011
great and SUPER like shooting fish in a barrel.
12/03/2011
Skillful and tasty. Didn't change a thing.
10/ten/2008
This stew was very proficient. It is hard to rate, considering my slow cooker decided to cease working, so I had to terminate cooking information technology in a pot on the stove. This stew had a great flavor. Some of my family appreciated the fact that at that place were no tomatoes. I didn't have whatsoever foam soup, then I used a bootleg cream sauce instead. Thanks for a good recipe!
11/22/2010
I cooked it on low for ten hours and it came out perfect. I didn't do any mushrooms, but added extra potatoes. It was great! The sauce thickened up at the cease and brand excellent gravy.
11/12/2010
This is and then easy! The longer it cooks the improve information technology tastes.
eleven/04/2008
The Golden Mushroom soup is fundamental. Information technology's totally different than using plain chicken broth every bit some other user mentioned. I used beefiness broth instead of h2o and only half of the dry onion soup mix. Added some extra spices. Added mushrooms in the final 2 hours. Cooked well-nigh 8 hours on low. Wonderful!
01/12/2011
Followed recipe ingredients exactly. Did not cook overnight. Cooked on low 9 hours. But average stew. Good only zip special.
12/21/2003
My husband said this was "The Best Stew EVER!" - have made information technology again and once more!!
01/xiii/2010
I was looking for a lighter crock pot beef stew (without the flour thickened gravy) and this one was actually good. I browned the meat first and could not discover Gilded Onion soup so I used French Onion soup and left out the chopped onions. I left information technology on low for a full day. It was delicious. Veggies were cooked just right (I was really surprised) and beefiness was very tender. I'm going to endeavour to find the low sodium version of the canned soup, it was a little saltier than I would usually like only I'll definitely brand this again.
09/10/2012
The whole family loved this stew! I used beef the beginning time, then tried it with craven and it turned out merely likewise. I added some minced garlic for additional flavor and thickened it up a bit with cornstarch toward the cease.
10/nineteen/2000
Information technology was ok. Like many other recipes.
01/28/2009
This recipe was Crawly. Similar a few others I used beefiness broth instead of h2o and used cornstarch to thicken up the stew. I also added a few more carrots and white potato'due south..(big family).I likewise added an extra parcel of onion soup mix for flavor, due to the actress vegetables .This was very easy and very very tasty.I will be making this many more times.
01/xi/2011
I loved this stew and my family enjoyed it as well. I did add almost a heaping Tablespoon of cornstarch to thicken it also I added one large parsnip cutting into pocket-size pieces. Frozen peas were added almost a i/2 hour before serving (about 1 cup) I cooked this in a lg. crock pot. It was succulent! I served information technology with homemade biscuits.
10/20/2006
Information technology was an excellent thought to add together wine as previously suggested. I too used portobella mushrooms and threw in some parsnips. YUM!
03/04/2011
This was very good and easy. Followed the recipe exactly except the mushrooms because of allergies.
01/09/2009
This was Excellent!! I followed the recipe ingredients to the T and it was perfect - great flavor, perfect consistency (squeamish and thick) and all around delicious. Notwithstanding, I just had this in the crockpot for xi hours and information technology was perfect! The meat barbarous apart, the veggies were really tender (onions about dissolved so don't worry about it seeming also oniony!) I am non sure I would have liked information technology cooked longer - I call up information technology might be also mushy. I will definitely stick with this beef stew recipe - its fantastic.
10/11/2009
I made this for my married man & he LOVED it! I am looking forward to making it the exact same way except, using venison for the guys @ chase camp! Cheers for the swell recipe!
10/17/2007
Very good stew but it definately doesn't demand to cook as long as it says. I started mine at 10am and we at at 5:30 and it could take cooked a picayune less than that. But very good.
09/08/2008
YUM! And then good! I followed the recipe exactly and was very pleased with the result. Probably wouldn't cook it so long next time, all mean solar day would probably do the trick instead of overnight. My husband wasn't besides thrilled with it (idea it was a tad overcooked) so I just gave the recipe 4 stars but I thought it was worth 5!
12/21/2008
Excellent! We just cooked information technology overnight -then refrigerated during the side by side day and reheated on the stove later on work (we don't like to get out the slow cooker on when we aren't home). Information technology yet turned out slap-up!
08/10/2005
This recipe turns out delicious! It'south and so like shooting fish in a barrel too..I pretty much just brown the meat showtime, then put in i bundle of onion soup, one can golden mushroom soup, and then the vegetables I want (usually simply carrots and potoates). The amount of water I put varies based on how much room is left in the crock pot. Usually I only fill the soup tin can upwards with water and pour it in. I keep in on high or low (depending on when I want dinner to be ready) and just check it by the potatoes. As long as I tin can cutting through them piece of cake with a fork, I know information technology will come out perfect. This is neat obviously or over noodles (if more than people end upwards showing up for dinner). Thanks for the swell recipe!
xi/28/2006
This was very good. I omitted the mushrooms(picky kids)and also used half the beefiness and added more potatoes and carrots. The sauce which I didn't change at all was delicious. We volition exist having this once more... frequently.
03/07/2011
I am not a beefiness stew fan, but my husband is and I brand a slow cooker meal at least once a week, then I figured why not requite it a try. This was delicious! I cooked for 12 hrs instead of overnight, but otherwise followed the recipe as written.
12/28/2008
OK, pretty typical stew...nothing special! '08
11/21/2012
I skipped the mushrooms and added peas. It was fantastic! It couldn't have been any easier to brand.
06/08/2008
Peachy stew recipe, but added 1/2 cup dry blood-red wine and information technology was fabulous!
02/06/2009
I put less water and cooked about 8 hours (1 hour on loftier, rest on low) and it turned out great.
01/29/2008
It was great - followed other reviewers tips though. Started beef only the nighttime before in the soup mix, canned soup and broth (instead of water). Added potatoes, onions, mushrooms and carrots in the morning time and turned to loftier. An hour before information technology was done, added a can of peas - no stew is consummate without peas!. LEFTOVER IDEA: If you have lots of leftovers, turn it into a potpie the night after with a frozen double crust!
11/03/2009
Excellent! I halved the meat and doubled the potatoes and veggies. In that location is no reason to melt this for as long as the recipe calls for... I cooked on low for 9-x hours and it was perfect. Much longer and the potatoes and carrots would take been nothing but mush. Thank you!
05/03/2011
This stew is so like shooting fish in a barrel to make, and delicious. My family loved it!! I love how simple, however hearty, it is. Fabricated information technology just every bit stated in recipe the first time, but just for a alter, added a can of peas just before serving the second fourth dimension I made it. It was very skilful. Volition definately keep this one!
09/14/2009
Omitted the onion soup mix and seasoned with garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper. Added a really big scoop of minced garlic. Didn't take the mushrooms then I omitted them. Used the water, plus some bullion AND some red vino for depth. Started information technology at 7am and was fall apart tender at five:45. Perfect with homemade wheat bread. Thanks!
05/xxx/2006
I cooked this one last weekend only after I got dwelling house from working nights. I only had lamb stew meat instead of beef and so I chucked that in and used salt reduced vegetable stock instead of h2o for more flavour. I also added a beef stock cube (I forgot that I put in lamb not beef but the stop event was still practiced). Added a decent corporeality of garlic and italian herb mix (the Gourmet Garden stuff in tubes is great - no chopping!). I also added some parsnips just for the heck of it. I think it cooked for around six hours and it was done to our satisfaction. I remember my slow cooker must cook faster than U.s.a. brands considering if I had put this brew on overnight and the next twenty-four hour period I recollect information technology would have been a bit overcooked. As it was, afterward vi hours on low, it was great. This was my kickoff attempt at a dwelling fabricated soup and I was pretty happy with it. It was a quick and easy repast to set up and the best thing was it cooked while I was asleep so I didn't have to do anything when I got up. Except for some toast!
01/18/2007
I can simply give this recipe 4 stars because I inverse it. I give my modifications 5 stars! I omitted the onion soup mix, just considering I've used it in other meals and was told past my husband never ever utilize it again. (I would dearest to try it with the soup mix because I exercise similar it.) Also, my slow cooker was way to pocket-size to brand such a quantity, then I ended upwards transfering everything to my dutch oven and simmered on the stove. I simmered information technology for 6 hours on medium rut. As well, I substitued two cups of h2o with 2 cups of Wyler'southward beefiness broth(cubed). The adjacent time I go far, I volition use four cups of broth as the stew needed lots of water. Absolutely delicious. I am a novice cook, but barely scratching the surface of possibilities... My husband said it was meliorate than his Mom's stew and better than his Grandma'due south stew!! What a striking!!
10/17/2004
This is a good stew simply the gravy definitely needs thickened earlier eating. I didn't accept the onion soup mix so made my ain batter with beef burgoo, garlic & onion powders.
04/19/2010
yum... v stars!!!
01/23/2007
This seemed actually strange - but it works! I did the full 24 hours, and added a few things (just spices). Nevertheless, next time, I'm going to cook the beef for 24 hours and the veggies for more similar iv-7 hours since equally is, everything was the color of beef. (Besides, I got sick of the smell, but hubby enjoyed information technology.)
01/22/2008
Wow! This was awesome. I used ane one/two pounds of stew meat and cooked information technology for ix hours. I added the vegetables after 3. I left out the onion and used beefy onion soup mix. I also used cream of mushroom soup. I substituted one cup of beef goop and half a cup of red vino for the water. I added a piffling cornstarch in the last half hour. The meat incredibly tender and delicious. Thanks!
09/24/2004
This was very good... I omitted the mushrooms (married man doesn't like 'em) and used the beef goop in place of the water. Still found it to be on the bland side, simply being as I've never made a stew in my life, it was very adept! (salt and pepper helped) (oh, and I cooked information technology for 10hrs on low, meat was VERY tender!!)
11/xix/2002
Quick and easy and best of all, very tasty! My family loves it!
10/20/2000
We all enjoyed this receipe very much. I was hard keeping my family unit out of the crock pot for 24 hours though......it smelled so good! I made a few alterations.....merely to spice information technology up a flake: 1 - 2 Tsps of Season All 1/4 Tsp of dried Rosemary ane/2 - 1 Tsp of Cheyenne I mixed together a can of beef goop and a tbs of flour and added it the next morning to thicken it upwards a bit Slap-up Receipe.....we loved information technology!
01/03/2005

This recipe is exactly what I was looking for... it was succulent. I followed the directions exactly. Only thing I changed was I browned the meat on the stove in some olive oil prior to putting into the slow cooker. Everything else I did the aforementioned and I LOVE this recipe.

This was very skilful stew. A little watery and so I would exercise like another reviewer said if yous want thick stew add a little cornstarch. I left out the onions because with the soup mix I didnt desire it to be overpowering, and it came out great. if y'all like mushrooms use a lot of them considering they shrink!

Splendid, tasted just similar mom's!! I did not add onion because my husband does non like information technology. The onion soup mix was fine. Used beefiness goop and a fleck of water. Thickened it up at the end with a scrap of cornstarch. Next time I may add together peas just at the end similar mom used to. I added turnip as well as I like it in my stew. This was very like shooting fish in a barrel to make and very comforting on a cold wintertime day!! I cooked it on high for six hours. Yum yum, I volition make it again!!

Super Proficient! I didn't use the crock pot b/c information technology wasn't big enough for the crowd I had to feed. So I just browned the meat a little in some olive oil, and so threw all the ingredients into 2 big pots on the stove. I brought information technology to a boil then backed the oestrus down and left it at a low simmer for a couple of hours. I did apply extra on the veggies and beef broth in with the water. It was a big striking!

The flavors in this stew were first-class. I didn't cook it overnight. I accidentally put it on high for 4 hours, and then found my mistake and kept it on low for 4 hours. Perfect! DH raved about it, so it should be 10 star. Thank you lot!
